Continuing Education

This spring, the SL School District cancelled the 54 year-old Continuing Education program, but two dedicated women are keeping it alive. Register now for fall classes in art, fitness, music, language, and more.

Hard-to-Recycle Materials

The Utah Recycling Alliance hosts periodic CHaRM events, or Collection of Hard to Recycle Materials, in nearby locations. Drop off old batteries, light bulbs, tires, mattresses, and more; check here for a list of accepted materials. The next scheduled event is September 19 from 9am-12pm at Bonneville Elementary School.

Landscaping Equipment Exchange

SLC residents have an amazing opportunity to swap gas landscaping equipment for electric through the city’s exchange program. Each spring and fall, with just a proof of address, you can apply for vouchers to significantly decrease the cost of this transition.

Recycling Voucher

  • Recycle a gas-powered handheld tool for a $155 voucher toward one (1) battery-operated handheld tool.
  • Recycle a gas-powered lawn mower for a $295 voucher toward one (1) battery-operated lawn mower.

Non-Recycling Voucher

  • Apply for a $75 voucher toward one (1) battery-operated handheld tool.
  • Apply for a $145 voucher toward one (1) battery-operated lawn mower.

Get free trees for your park strip

SLC’s Urban Forestry Division is now accepting requests for park strip trees to be planted during the dormant season (Nov. – Apr.). Crews will do all the planting at no cost to you; watering is your responsibility.

Take advantage of this opportunity to add greenery, shade, and cooling to your landscape. In addition, tree-lined streets can have a calming affect on traffic.
